Hiking, diving, boating, paddleboarding... the Côte Bleue on your doorstep
🥾 Hiking — the coastal path
The customs officers' path follows the sea from Ensuès-la-Redonne to Niolon (about 8 km, 4 to 5 hours of walking), passing every harbour and cove of Ensuès, the Érevine island and then small coves before Niolon — with a superb view of Marseille. You can come back by train on the Côte Bleue line.
🚂 The Côte Bleue train — a ride not to be missed

Leaving from Ensuès-la-Redonne station, this regional line built between 1907 and 1915 by the engineer Paul Séjourné runs along the cliffs through 18 stone viaducts, 23 tunnels and sheer drops above the sea. Sit on the left-hand side heading towards Marseille for the best views down onto the calanques. Carry on to Marseille-Saint-Charles to visit the Vallon des Auffes (a typical little fishing harbour on the Corniche Kennedy) or the Mucem (museum of civilisations, Fort Saint-Jean and Mediterranean gardens facing the sea).

- Spearfishing: a popular area between La Madrague de Gignac, La Redonne, Figuières and Méjean — as part of the coast is a Marine Park, some zones are regulated or closed to spearfishing; check with the local fishing authority (Prud'homie de pêche).
